We’ve become aware of an issue when you move data from BlackBerry devices to HTC smartphones in Australia and New Zealand. The issue occurs when copying data from a BlackBerry to HTC devices only and causes all SMS messages from the old BlackBerry device to be re-sent again to the original recipient of those messages. For clarity, messages are not sent to anyone who didn’t originally receive them.
We are working to get it fixed and right now we’re developing, testing and introducing a software update.
UPDATE: Sydney, Australia – 8 July, 2011
We’ve got an update for everybody on the BlackBerry data transfer application issue.
The issue occurs when copying data from BlackBerry to HTC devices only and may cause all SMS messages previously sent from the BlackBerry device to be re-sent again to the original recipient of those messages.
To be clear, this is an issue with the transfer application on some HTC devices and messages are not sent to anyone who didn’t originally receive them. The problem only arises in the following circumstances:
1. The user is transferring data from a BlackBerry device
AND
2. During the HTC device setup, the user elects to use the Transfer Data application
AND
3. The user elects to transfer all SMS messages
This issue affects the HTC Incredible S, HTC Desire S, HTC Wildfire S, HTC Desire Z and HTC Wildfire in Australia and the HTC Wildfire S in New Zealand.
It does not affect HTC Sensation, HTC ChaCha, HTC Salsa, HTC Desire HD, HTC Desire, HTC HD7, HTC Trophy, HTC Legend or HTC Aria devices.
We are working hard to get it fixed and right now we’re developing, testing and introducing a software update which we have already started rolling out.
We’ll keep you posted on progress until it’s been completely resolved and we’ve already put additional quality control steps in place for all software integration.
HTC customers with affected devices will be notified via their devices that a software update is available and be advised to update when prompted.
Ensuring excellent quality and user experiences for all our customers is essential. Sorry for any inconvenience caused. Any concerns, please contact HTC Customer Service on 1300 482 482.
